We had a chance to go up to Lake Navajo, in Utah for the 4th of July holiday weekend. It was really beautiful country up there. We went with my wife's sister, Jodi and her boyfriend Noah. The elevation was above 9000 feet and even though it was July, there was still some snow on the ground. The nights were cold and the days were cool. Most people came for the trout fishing, I came for the scenery. We spent a lot of time searching out and exploring caves and lava tubes in the area, but I neglected to get any photos of them.
When we left, it was raining, and Lisa and I decided to take the back roads into Zion Canyon. This involved about 40 miles of dirt road that started at the 9000 ft level and descended into the vally to about 2000 ft. I'm just glad we went downhill through the mud. Anyway, here are a few snapshots taken with a cheap disposable camera. I have tried to make the file sizes small enough to ensure a quick download, but be patient.

Basic map of the area we stayed in. Note the elevation nearby of 9965 ft. We were staying at about 9200 ft. which made it quite cool as soon as the sun went down. Here it was the 4th of July weekend, and we needed jackets. |

This is the cabin we stayed in. It was small cozy and had a fireplace. This place has no phone or electricity, but the owner did use his generator to give us basic lighting in the cabins. Bathroom and hot showers were mandatory on this trip, and our cabin was one of the few that had both :) |

This is the view from our cabin, overlooking the lake. This is what we woke up to everyday that we stayed there. Oh yeah, that is Jodi's (Lisa's sister) boyfriend, Noah trying to get out of the way. |
